19 May 2013: 32km. Started 08:30. Arrived 18:45.
I was sorry that I had to leave Morag’s Hostel so soon. I enjoyed the continental breakfast at 07:30 before leaving at 08:30. The route went up a road then on to a forest track and it was more or less forest tracks all day on a switch back hilly route bordering on Loch Ness.

Bridge at Invermoriston
Stone cave
After about three hours walking, the track descended to a small village (Invermoriston) with a historic bridge. I didn’t see many other people on this walk. People I did see were an elderly couple out for an afternoon walk from Invermoriston, a couple of cyclists heading towards me and a young couple out walking the Great Glen Way. One of the cyclists had some interesting roles having retired as a director of a large telecommunication company. One of his projects was a charitable one in which his remit was to motivate young people to achieve.
Unfortunately, one person I met in the afternoon was a very odd man who sat on a bench next to me while I was having a rest. He went on to empty out his two water bottles on the ground (on what had become a hot day). He was carrying a rucksack, a carrier bag and a round object that looked like a mini trampoline, but may have been a tent. As a result, once I arrived near Drumnadrochit, I took the road rather than the footpath – he informed me that I had gone the wrong way. However I was concerned as to whether he was stalking me. He was apparently heading for the camp site in Drumnadrochit. I did report it when I arrived at the hostel – interestingly another lady at the hostel thought that she had been followed as well by a similar looking person. It was a bit worrying at the time, but fortunately was the only incident like this on my entire expedition.
The hostel was fine, but of course not up to the standard of the wonderful establishment on the previous night.
